Climaviation and ISAE-SUPAERO: an educational partnership to educate the next generation on non-CO2 effects of aviation
Climaviation is proud to have collaborated with ISAE-SUPAERO to develop educational content specifically focused on the non-CO2 effects of aviation, in the form of five explanatory videos:
- Introduction to non-CO2 effects: An overview of the issues and phenomena involved
- Condensation trails: Their formation, climate impact and role in the formation of cirrus clouds
- NOx emissions: Their effects on the atmosphere and their contribution to global warming
- Climate impact of a flight: How to measure a flight’s overall climate impact, taking into account both CO2 and non-CO2 effects
- Potential for flight optimisation: What strategies can be adopted to reduce the overall climate impact of a flight
These videos, designed to be accessible whilst remaining rigorous, help viewers understand the complex mechanisms at work and the available levers for action. This project is part of our shared commitment to equipping the leaders of tomorrow with a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the climate challenges associated with aviation. By combining the scientific expertise of ISAE-SUPAERO with Climaviation’s applied approach, we provide students, researchers and professionals with the tools to understand, measure and act on these impacts.
